Smuggled Pepper pounds prices further

Spot prices of Black pepper on Tuesday reduced further as major markets were flooded by smuggled Vietnam pepper  via borders with Myanmar, Bangladesh and Nepal.

BusinessLine reports “If this trend is allowed to continue it is going to be disastrous for thousands of Indian pepper growers”

Spot prices gained by Rs 100 a quintal to Rs 39300 (ungarbled) and Rs 41,300 (garbled).

Ungarbled – Rs 393 / Kg and Garbled – Rs 413 /Kg.
