Cyclone Daye Hits Odisha,Heavy rain forecast till tomorrow

On Thursday night, Tropical Cyclone Daye was located in the Bay of Bengal with wind speeds of 64kmph gusting at around 84kmph. It made landfall over the Odisha Coast near Gopalpur at midnight around 01:30 AM. The Tropical Cyclone has since weakened and will become a Tropical Depression by Friday afternoon.

The Tropical Cyclone (now downgraded to a deep depression) will cause heavy rain, thunderstorm and gusty winds around northeastern, eastern, central and western India on Friday.

Heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra on Friday. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Friday.

Saturday and beyond

The Tropical Depression will move westward and be around Madhya Pradesh on Saturday morning. Heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms can be expected in Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Assam and Meghalaya on Saturday.

The Tropical Depression will turn north-northwestward and be situated around Rajasthan on Sunday morning. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh on Sunday, whereas heavy rain is forecast for Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka on Sunday.

The Depression will move northward and reach northern India on Monday morning and gradually weaken on Tuesday. Heavy rain can be expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Assam and Tamil Nadu on Monday.
