Coffee futures update – 21/feb/17

Robusta coffee futures in London Trade showed positive move after Brazil open to import robusta coffee from Vietnam to meet the domestic shortage of this variety, in order to supply the country’s domestic instant coffee industry.

Brazil’s Agriculture Ministry on Monday published rules for importers of robusta coffee from Vietnam.

May robusta futures was up by $12, or 0.6 percent, at $2,186 a tonne. However prices remain below a five-year high of $2,279 which was hit on this month 1st.

Arabica coffee also rose, supported by technicals. The May contract was up 1.15 cents, or 0.77 percent.
