A Texas-based coffee company voluntarily recalled coffee containing an ingredient similar to what’s in the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra.
The FDA recently issued a recall for male enhancement coffee—just another in a long line of products found to secretly contain either real ED drugs or chemicals similar enough to get the same job done-Erectile dysfunction .
This coffee had an ingredient similar to Viagra (plus undeclared milk, a common allergen).
Bestherbs Coffee LLC issued a recall of New of Kopi Jantan Tradisional Natural Herbs Coffee after FDA testing found the presence of desmethyl carbodenafil.
“Desmethyl carbodenafil is structurally similar to sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, an FDA-approved prescription drug for erectile dysfunction,” the FDA said in a statement.
While the New of Kopi Jantan Tradisional Natural Herbs Coffee is marketed as a male enhancement product, the desmethyl carbodenafil could interact with nitrates in some prescription drugs and possibly lower blood pressure to dangerous levels, the FDA said in a statement.
The coffee posed a particular risk to men who have diabetes, high blood pressure or cholesterol, or those who have heart disease.
The product was sold online and distributed to customers across the country. So just be careful when you take your next coffee guys!
