Heavy rain over South Interior Karnataka on 20 and 21 May:IMD

Indian Meteorological Department(IMD) issues Heavy rain warning over isolated places in South Interior Karnataka for next four days till 21 May .

Department issues warning of Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds very likely at isolated places over South Interior Karnataka.

Dept issues heavy rain warning over other states like Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, South Interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep

Dept forecast rainfall in Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Shimoga and coastal areas of South Interior Karnataka on May 17.

The climate department said heavy rains would occur in Chamarajanagar, Chikmagalur, Bangalore City, Bangalore rural, Mandya, Mysore and Ramanagar districts on May 20 and 21.

Heavy rains at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Deep depression intensified into a cyclonic storm “SAGAR”

Deep depression over Gulf of Aden moved westwards, intensified into a cyclonic storm “SAGAR” at 0530 hrs IST near 13.2N & 48.7E.

The cyclonic storm “SAGAR” which formed over Gulf of Aden is moving west- southwestwards with a speed of 11 kmph, and lay centered at 1130 hrs IST of today, the 17
th May 2018 over Gulf of Aden nearlatitude 13.0 0N and longitude 48.4 0E; about 360 km east-northeast of Aden (Yemen) and 590 km west-northwest of Socotra Islands. It is very likely to intensify further slightly during next 12 hrs. It is very likely to continue to move west-southwestwards during next 48 hrs.

Fishermen Warning

(a) Wind
Gale winds speed reaching 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph is very likely around the system centre covering Gulf of Aden and adjoining areas of westcentral and southwest Arabian Sea during the next24 hrs and gradual decrease thereafter.
(b) Sea condition
Sea condition will be high around the system centre covering Gulf of Aden and adjoining areas of westcentral and southwest Arabian Sea during the next 24 hrs.
(c) Fishermen warning
Fishermen are advised not to venture into Gulf of Aden and adjoining areas of westcentral and southwest Arabian Sea during the next 48 hrs.
